Variations on Red Work?:

I used a blue Ne 28 Cotton Makó thread to stitch this variation on the old fashioned "RedworK" embroidery theme. There are many colours in the Ne 28 range that would be suitable for your personal variation on this theme. Why not try deep forest green, rich golden yellow, burgundy red, hot pink to name a few. Visit the Cotton Makó colour chart to find your favourite colour.

I used a basket design by Hari Walner of Beautiful designs to create this small embroidered wall hanging.

If your taste is more traditional  you might prefer to work with Cotton Makó Ne 12/2, the thickest thread in the Makó range:

Variegated Threads

The  following photos were sent to me by Liz Montgomery of "Over the Top Quilting" in Cobar. She had been "playing" with her new Aurilux threads and the embroidery program on her Pfaff sewing machine.

Filled Embroidery:

These embroidery samples have been stitched with Lana wool blend.

Lana_bouquet.JPG (100419 bytes) Copyright note:
These digitised patterns are stitched from Pfaff Creative Fantasy cards No 1 & 7 respectively

 Lana_satin_stitch.JPG (75656 bytes)

Lana is a 2 ply wool blend thread (50% Australian wool & 50% Acrylic) suitable for  both hand & machine embroidery.

It is recommended that a 90 or 100 needle be used when machine stitching with Lana.

I found that Cotton Makó 50/2 was the best bobbin thread to use when stitching these more intense embroidery designs.

As Lana is a thicker thread (Ne12/2) you will find that best results are achieved by choosing designs that can be enlarged.
