About Woolwich fabrics:

  • Woven from 100% virgin wool (13 ounces per yard)
  • Permanently moth proofed
  • Available in 19 colours
  • This top quality wool fabric can be felted for appliqué penny rugs and rug hooking. 
  • Also accepts overdying to produce a range of subtle shadings.  So you can customise your fabrics to suit your own design colour way.
  • Woolwich may also be felted before use giving a beautiful soft result. See instruction below
  • Whether felted or not,  Woolwich is very soft and easy to appliqué by hand or machine.

Woolwich Felting is Easy

4 simple steps

  1. Soak the wool fabric in warm water with a tiny amount of dishwashing liquid. 
  2. Rinse and spin dry. (Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the rinse water to neutralise the detergent)
  3. Dry in a clothes drier on the hottest setting.
  4. The fabric is now "felted" and is ready for use
