While in Canada I visited the North American distributor of Aurifil thread. Although we have corresponded for years it was great to talk face to face to compare notes. I was very impressed with one of the quilts that they had displayed on the wall.
It featured cross stitch Fairy blocks that had been machine stitched with Cotton Mako' Ne 50 thread. It was just delightful and I have included some photos here to inspire the machine embroiderers to look through their pattern libraries for a theme to design their own cross stitch quilt.
Unfortunately, I do not have any details about the maker of the quilt, or the designer of these beautiful cross stitch patterns.

Are you enjoying the abundance of red work & stitchery designs that are currently available for both hand and machine stitching?
If machine embroidery is your passion you will love the results when stitching red work outlines in Cotton Mako' Ne 12. Use a number 100 needle, with Cotton Mako' Ne 50 in the bobbin, and enjoy the modern twist on this old fashioned embroidery style.
If you take pleasure in hand embroidery, do away with the tedious job of separating strands and straightening threads before stitching by substituting Cotton Mako' Ne 12 for the stranded thread that is frequently noted on the pattern requirements list.
In both cases you will find that the gentle mercerised lustre on the thread will give your work an added lift and using several shades of red will give the embroidery some depth and complexity.

The soft sheen of mercerised cotton also makes a great change from the high shine of the satin finished polyester when creating embroidery and machine lace designs.
